Prof Enomoto participated the aircraft observation mission for Typhoon Nanmadol (2022) led by Prof Tsuboki of ISEE, Nagoya University and Prof Yamada of University of the Ryukyus under the collaboration of ISEE. The profiles in the eye and eye wall clouds were successfully obtained using dropsondes lauched from the Gulf Stream IV. Prof Enomoto conducted ensemble sensitivity analysis to determine the regions that effectively reduce forecast error for a validation region including Okinawa and provided downscaling forecasts using NCEP MSM by Ms Nakashita, second-year student in the doctoral programme for briefings to discuss the locations for dropsonde observations.
